The 1994 Cuban Serie Selectiva league baseball cards are true collectors' items.
They are one of the most unique set of baseball cards to be found anywhere and were a historic breakthrough in 1994, introducing baseball fans everywhere to the last great untapped gold mine of baseball talent in the world – Cuba!
This set includes Omar Linares, regarded by many as the best
all-around Cuban baseball player of the last 40 years and German Mesa,
the revered short-stop from Havana, who was arguably the greatest
defensive player in the world, since the Negro Leagues, to never play major league baseball.

It also includes Cuba’s Hank Aaron – all time home run king Orestes Kindelan and the highly-respected Antonio Pacheco, the former hard-hitting defensive
standout.
The historic baseball exhibition series between Cuba and the Baltimore Orioles in the Spring of 1999 drew international attention to the depth of baseball talent in
the Caribbean nation.
The breakthrough of Orlando Hernandez, Livan Hernandez, and Rolando Arrojo – all included in this limited-edition set – into big league baseball drew
great attention to Cuban baseball, and its relationship to the United
States and MLB.
The set contains several of Cuba's standout players today, including Pedro Luis Lazo, Ariel Pestano, Eduardo Paret, Carlos Tabares, Yovani Aragon, and Juan Carlos Moreno.
A complete set contains 132 cards. There are 108 players, 20 managers, coaches and trainers, and 4 roster cards.
Each card has biographical and statistic information on the players in English and Spanish. The card fronts and backs have
full color photos.
These cards were produced in 1994 in cooperation with CUBADEPORTES S.A., Cuba's commercial sports division and were produced with the official consent of the Cuban Amateur Baseball Federation.
